Yes, I have fallen off the wagon with a big thud! Now some of you may not understand what I mean by that term...let me explain. I promised myself not to buy any new cross stitch 'stash' until I've used up stuff in my current 'stash'. I've been good for quite some time, but I had a little crisis that sent me shopping in cyberworld. One of my current WIPs is "The Pledge of Allegiance" by Stoney Creek. Well, I've had it stored away for quite some time...now comes the problem. The pattern requires GAST Cranberry thread...this is an over-dyed thread...colors vary by lot. Unknowingly...I needed 2 skeins (10 yards), but I only ordered 1 skein (5 yards)...bottom line...I don't have enough thread to do the stripes on the flag! So my dilemma/question is...will the dye lot match? Or do I need to start over? Well, in the process of shopping online for this troublemaker floss, I ended up with several purchases (fun!) Here's what I got...
Victoria Sampler - Please Don't Eat the Daisies...this is an online class kit. It's got all kinds of specialty stitches/stumpwork. The class lasts 3 weeks in July.
Stitches'n Things - a complete set of the new DMC Color Variations floss. This should be a more economical substitute for a lot of overdyed flosses...see, this was also an option to replace my GAST problem.
Ebay - I'm on a retreat planning committee. Typically on Saturday afternoon, a 'craft' class is offered...so I thought punchneedle could be an option. So I ordered a Dimensions kit called 'Cup of Java' (since our group is called CoffeeBreak) along with the Dimensions economical punch needle. The good punch needles are quite pricey, but I thought this may be the way to go...make it affordable for everyone...so I'm giving this a whirl..
Stitching Bits & Bobs - went to the website and lo and behold...a sale! I ended up getting my Cranberry GAST (3 skeins) there as well as a Teresa Layman kit. It is called Snow White Red Rose...this is done totally with french and colonial knots...I thought it sounded kind of different and fun!
So, yes, I got my GAST, and a few other things...expanding my horizons!
